AOL/Bebo Buy Could Create Second-largest Social Platform

BIZ REPORT -- Mar 14 -- Bebo has 40m unique users worldwide but once it joins with AOL\'s AIM and ICQ that number will grow to 80m uniques to make it larger than Facebook (67m uniques). Bebo is one of the fastest growing social networks with 688% growth from Jan \'07 - Jan \'08. Facebook showed 11% growth and MySpace 8% growth during the same period. Bebo users spent 217 min on Bebo in January (comScore) while Facebook users spent 198 mins and MySpace users spent 156 mins. Bebo was the #4 social platform following MySpace, Facebook and MyYearbook in February 2008 (Hitwise). In the UK, Bebo is the brand most searched for, leading both Ebay and Facebook.Bebo plans to launch in France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain.
