YouTube is now the most popular social network in the UK, overtaking Wikipedia with 10.4M unique users during January. The site saw a 56% increase in traffic from Jan 07. Nielsen Online estimates that nearly 2/3 of UK web users (20.8M people) visited at least one of the top 10 social networks. Wikipedia had 9.6M unique users in Jan 08,
Facebook 8.5M,
MySpace 5.02M and
Bebo 4.09M. Facebook saw by far the biggest year-on-year growth, of 712% since Jan 07; and
Slide, the photo display application, saw its user base increase by 207% to 3.3M over the same period.
