Twitter is everywhere these days, with 11% of online Americans now tweeting (up from 6% in May 2008). The “Twitterverse” is increasingly filled with corporate accounts, including popular examples @zappos, @JetBlue, and @ComcastCares. I don't believe that 11% of online US citizens are using Twitter. That figure seems abnormally high for that company at this stage.

11% does seem high, but I've seen that number referenced in several places. It's probably even higher now that Oprah is taking Twitter mainstream! Perhaps the true statistic is that 11% of online Americans have SIGNED UP for Twitter--not actively use it. In any case, Twitter's user base is certainly growing quickly.
